Happy 10th Birthday, Razel!

My girl, Risa wanted hawaiian themed cake pops for her daughter's 10th birthday sleepover. I recently saw a post on Lora Joy's blog and loved her hibiscus flowers, so I decided to go with a hibiscus theme.  I added a sugar pearl in the middle (a pain to do) and did the flowers in three different colors.  It took awhile but here they are:

Lora Joy does intricate work piping her designs onto her cake pops and does them freehand.  I thought she used a stencil but she actually just piped the flowers using a ziplock bag.  I'm still getting the hang of piping designs freehand so I'll keep practicing.  Practice makes perfect.  :)

Happy Easter!

Hope everyone had a great Easter!  This weekend was a quieter one than what I'm used to.  Dinner and drinks with my bff at The Attic on Friday, work at Bliss Bar on Saturday, and an order of cake pops yesterday for my friend Krystle.  She placed an order for 36 cake pops with a simple drizzle of yellow, green and purple.  This is how they came out:

Very simple and the colors along with the pail makes it a decorative display for an Easter dinner.  I received a text message from Krystle and she said she would be placing more orders in the future.  I'm glad you and your family enjoyed the cake pops!  I'm happy that I can make your events a sweeter one with my sweet treats. ;)

Samoas Cake Pops

Its funny how the bff and I think so much alike and usually during the same time.  She recently made samoas cake pops and I was just about to email her a recipe for samoas cupcakes.  Samoas cookies are my all time favorite Girls Scout cookies and the reason for the extra love in my tummy.  :)  I was able to find a recipe for samoas cupcakes online but I'm gonna tweek it a bit.  I'll let you know how it turns out and post up pics as soon as I bake them.  I've been having issues lately since moving to our new place because our oven is electric! I want my conventional oven back.  Waaaah!  My goods are baking too quickly and not turning out as well as they used to.

Here's the bff's pics and recipe.  Enjoy!

Cake Pops Galore

I've got a bunch of cake pop orders coming up.  One of which is for a Red Egg and Ginger Party.  Its a celebration in the Chinese culture when parents hold a celebration to introduce their latest addition to friends and relatives. The eggs are a symbol of fertility, renewal of life, unity and harmony.  They are dyed red as a symbol of good luck.  The ginger adds a bit of hot spice to the yin and yang because of traditional Chinese food.  The baby's mother is thought to need this yang after the tiring process of giving birth.

Chris and Fred are ordering a total of 200 cake pops.  They really liked my hello kitty cake pops and wanted me to make them baby tiger cake pops since their daughter Taylor is born in the year of the tiger.  I was able to make a sample for them and they were happy with how they came out. As soon as I complete the order, I'll upload the pics...but here's a pic of how the tiger cake pops will look like.  Raawr.

I also have another huge cake pop order the following weekend.  Joanna and Glenn are throwing their daughters, Gennesys and Gianna a combined birthday celebration and they asked me if I would make Hello Kitty cake pops.  I'm so excited since I love sharing my sweets and seeing the family.  Its always a great time with the Mandapats and Barlaans. :)

I'll be posting pics as I continue to work on the orders and blog about helpful tips when making the cake pops too.  Its taken me about a year to get a technique down with these cake pops and I'm happy to share the tips I've learned along the way. Til then, happy baking.

Hello Kitty Cake Pops

I made these Hello Kitty Cake Pops as favors for my daughter, Kylie's 5th birthday party in December.  It took me about 6 hours for around 55 red velvet and oreo cake pops.  There was a lot of detail involved. Baking, molding, chilling, dipping, and decorating. SIGH. I was able to find the rainbow sprinkles, heart shaped sprinkles, and red circles at Sugar and Spice in Daly City.  I am a frequent shopper there; I make purchases every week!  Good for them, bad for my bank account.  LOL.  The pictures are a bit pixelated because they were taken with my Blackberry.  As soon as I upload the party pics from my camera, I'll post them on here.  :) You can find instructions on how to make your own Hello Kitty cake pops at Bakerella's site.  Enjoy!

Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Update

Thank you to all of those who came to support our fundraiser event at Bliss Bar!  We got the place packed by 10pm and for all of you who have been there, its pretty small.  We had drink specials for Effen Vodka and my yummy cupcake pops.  :)  The Effen Vodka and cupcake pop sales went directly to the fund and we collected almost $2,000 by the end of the night.  A special shout out to Scott, Chris, Anuj, and Peter who came by to support me.  :)

P.S .  I was able to market my cupcake pops at the event so hopefully this will get the ball rolling for more orders.  Yay!

Happy St. Patty's Day

What a better way to share the good ol' luck of the Irish with green and white cake pops?  My name twin placed an order of green and white cake pops for her office.  Here are some pics from my phone.  I'm still learning how to use my camera so until I get more savvy with it, these blackberry pics will have to do.  Half are coated with white with a green vanilla drizzle and the other half are coated with green with a white drizzle.  :)

Birthdays Galore

I had quite a busy weekend:  2 orders, 2 birthday parties, and worked both jobs on Friday. Boy, am I EXHAUSTED. The Yo Gabba Gabba themed color cake pops were for Lil Mikey's 2nd Birthday and the second order was for Isabella's 1st birthday due on Sunday.  I've had a bunch of orders almost every weekend which keeps me busy, busy busy!  I love it though and can't complain.  :)

Here are pics of the cake pops for Lil Mikey's Birthday.  They were a huge hit!

The 75 brown and pink cupcake pops were for Isabella's 1st Birthday.  It was a cherry blossom themed party and the cupcake pops complimented the theme perfectly!  I was able to find a cherry blossom template for the tags so it saved me some time on designing them myself and the buckets were from Target.  (It's the happiest place on Earth for me second to Disneyland! LOL) I'll post more pics of the pops at the party as soon as I receive them.  Thanks again Elaine for the order!

It's a Boy!

The girls and I threw a baby shower for Stacey and Daniel.  They are expecting a baby boy in April and we couldn't be more excited for them.  This will be the second offspring of the group and I'm hoping we add a few more in the next few years. Kylie's tired of being the only kid!  Haha.
We had lots of food which was catered by Jer's mom and lots of other yummy appetizers, including Ana's delicious crab salad.  Yum! For dessert,  I made blue velvet cupcakes with a whipped cream cheese frosting and cake pops as favors/centerpieces. Sue was able to find a website for the cupcake toppers which worked perfectly with my scallop cutter!  You can find the labels here.  We also purchased mason jars as centerpieces filled with raffia and placed 6-8 of the cake pops.  I must say the baby shower was well put together.  Great job organizing, Sue!
